One would never peg the affable, confident and outspoken Cee-Lo Green (formerly of Gnarls Barkley) as an angst-ridden wallflower teenager. But according to NME, Cee-Lo was once a member of the eyeliner-and-fishnet-stockings set.

"I did have a Goth phase," he told the music magazine. "I definitely went through a period of my life when I was listening to The Cure."

He continues, "I wore a lot of black. It wasn't that I was trying to not be seen, so as much that I felt invisible. It was a way of saying, 'I care that you know I don't care', you know?"

In the video for his runaway online hit single, "F**k You" (which is not getting much in the way of commercial radio airplay, for some reason), Green portrays himself as an awkward teenager who works in a diner and who never gets laid.

If he was attempting to romance the ladies with Bauhaus records, we can totally see why.
