To "Lorne Ranger": I don't think the greedy-lawyer comment was necessary. Professionals deserve to be paid for their services. People screw their own lives up, go running to lawyers to fix them, then complain about having to pay them for it. My husband is an honest, hardworking man who works long hours, his phone rings all times of the day, and it ticks me off when people like you act like lawyers don't work for their paycheque like the rest of us.

As for the actual topic, I agree with "TakeADeepBreath." If Mel is going to make a baby, he can provide that child with the quality of life that Mel is acustom to, regarless of the status of his relationship with the mother.

No matter what you think about Mel, or Oksana (huge sigh of disgust here!), child support is supposed to be about providing enough funds to buy what is needed to raise the child comfortably. $5000 a month is more than enough to do that--hell it's more than some families of 4 live on in a month! $40000 a month is a ridiculous request: it doesn't do much for her credibility for asking a sum of that magnitude. And the honest truth is if she gets a shark lawyer she might just get it. Mel may not be an innocent party in the split, but if she gets a settlement like that then that will just lay precidence for every other gold digging ho bag to do the same--perhaps even to someone who doesn't have retribution coming their way! No wonder people don't believe in the legal system anymore.

Whatever he may now feel for the mother of his kid, he did not feel that way when he was messing around with her and they made that baby. That is just bloody insane! My husband and I work our asses off to barely make about $21,000 a year to pay bills, rent and take care of our daughter. I think it's complete crap that she can just demand that kind of money claiming it's for their baby.
