But friends of Moore say her recent problems have been a long time coming, and aren’t just about her failed marriage.

Any way you look at it, there’s nothing nice about this story. Sure, Demi Moore is out of the hospital and hopefully getting the help she needs, but the 911 call itself was frustrating, awful, and intrusive.

It’s easy to assume that her meltdown was thanks to soon-to-be-ex Ashton Kutcher and his hot-tubbing action with a perky 24-year-old blond on his sixth anniversary to Demi. Let’s be serious, his very publicized philandering ways would drive any wife to lose it.

But it wasn’t her very public divorce that led to Demi’s recent hospitalization; in fact, friends of the actress are saying it’s not all about him, no matter how bad he wants otherwise.

“This is not just about Ashton,” a close friend of the actress told E! News. “I’m sure Ashton would like to think it’s all about him. It’s really more about the toll it takes on any ambitious woman in this town.”

The source claims Moore has always had issues with the demands of the spotlight, specifically, “constantly having to prove you’re not just a pretty face but a talented actor, as well. Constantly having to prove you’re a good mother, not just a celebutante around town who goes to parties instead of looking after her family. Having to stay sober in a town that’s so not.”

Despite her latest episode, Moore’s friends insist she is doing well after entering rehab for “exhaustion” following her hospitalization.

“I just saw her and she’s doing great,” Demi’s friend, Patty Jenkins, told E! Online. “I think she’s doing much better than it's made out to be. Demi is awesome and so strong. I also hate when people make it a bigger drama than what is going on. She’s great.”

The insider added: “Demi’s had a fight in her for many years, before Ashton ever came along.”

This is presumably unlike any fight Demi’s had to contend with, though. It’s one thing to have to deal with this kind of… “exhaustion” so publicly, but to balance that with one of the most publicized celebrity divorces in recent months  makes it that much more of a battle.

However, I’m not sure if it’s fair for Demi’s pal to assume that Ashton actually wants his ex’s current problems to centre on him, because I would like to think he wouldn’t want Moore to have problems like this in her life at all. But no matter what Demi’s friends say, I’m sure some of her latest shenangigans have a little something to do with him.

Honest to God, it never ceases to amaze me how defensive fans are about their precious celebrities.

Get your head out of the sand Spyke. The woman has a history of substance abuse that is well known. Now she's dragging her children into it. Highly unpleasant to say the least. If she gave a flying fart who you were you might be an enabler. As it is you're just 'one of those people'.

The very definition of irony is this blogger putting Demi's exhaustion in quotation marks. Demi has not abused any substance since she was very young and was given a second chance by Joel Schumacher (sp?) while filming St. Elmos Fire. She got her drug problem under wraps, and never went back, that is how awesome and strong she is. This woman has to put up with this kind of BS, being accused of drug or alcohol abuse when anyone could see she has lost a lot of weight recently, and has been stressed past her limit. She is an astonishing actress who is abused by Hollywood for being honest, straight forward and strong. She gave an incredible performance, got bulked up and shaved off her beautiful hair for GI Jane, a great movie, only to be slammed by the critics, just as one example. Yes Hollywood is a cruel place and Denette Wilford is full of crap as she is part of the problem.

I have watch Demi for many years, she has always had a lot of stuff to deal with in her life...I really dont think Ashton wants to be the problem with Demi, he knows her and knows what goes on with her..i just hope for Demi and her girls she gets better and has a good life from now on...

Leave her alone. She's a professional actor and mother who is focused on her family. Ashton's a minipulator, who cares only about himself. Who was he before he hooked up with Demi? He has a credibility issue and is selfish and cruel. He should
go away' and be ashamed of his behaviour! Good luck Demi. mh from Canada

Can you imagine all of the drama in your life constantly publicized. Everything you do and say, every move you make and then being scrutinized and criticized for it. I know they should know what they signed up for, but I'm sure it's still stressful.

Well, I'm sure Demi's issues came to a head when her marriage fell apart. Who wouldn't have issues when the person you loved and trusted cheats on you?
She probably feels like a failure, even though the only mistake she really made was falling for a guy who was too young or emotionally mature to marry. This is an old story in Hollywood.
